Adam Lambert Sees Through Harry Styles' Queerbaiting Accusations

"American Idol" alum and Queen frontman Adam Lambert knows better to fall for queerbaiting, and he is convinced the gay community knows better as well.

As reported by iNewsUK, Lambert sat down for an interview where he was asked more than a few "cheeky" questions and the topic turned to Harry Styles.

On the subject of allyship and adopting markers of queerness to attract a queer fanbase, Lambert says that he can see "both sides of it."

"Like, I get the concern. But OK, so if you're a gay man and you like Harry Styles, do you like him because he has a rainbow flag on stage or because you like his songs?," Lambert questioned. "Is the rainbow flag not just icing on the cake? It's almost underestimating the intelligence of gay people to claim queerbaiting. We're not that gullible, are we? I think people just like to find things to bitch about."

Indeed most of us aren't that gullible, but we all can dream. And Lambert never dreamed of becoming an out rockstar.

"After idol, I thought, 'I didn't get into this to be an activist.' I had imposter syndrome doing it," he said. Now not only is Lambert a poster boy for LGBTQ representation, he also has his own not-for-profit, Feel Something Foundation, devoted to the support of LGBTQ+ and human rights.

Feeling comfort in his skin and his career, Lambert says he is creatively in a good place as well.

"I was falling victim to trying to play the game a little too much at some point, maybe seven or eight years ago," he says. "But I'm at a point now where I know who and what I am more than I ever have. I was trying on different outfits in a way. I was fighting the inevitable – that I'm a rock guy. That's what I am!"

And that's what we love! Read Lambert's complete interview.
