Lady Gaga's fandom launched into high excitement when a countdown appeared on Mother Monster's official website. Will a new album drop when the countdown reaches zero on Monday the 27th? That's the consensus among devotees of the "Poker Face" singer.
The counter spins like a clock hand, specifying the days, hours, minutes, and seconds until... something. UK newspaper the Daily Mail speculated that the payoff will be "an announcement that looks set to be made at 4pm GMT on Monday 27 January."
Additionally, fans can "scratch" off the surface image and reveal the legend "LG1" beneath, with the letters "in the signature font from her 'The Fame' era," UK newspaper the Independent relayed.
The Independent also noted that Gaga "delighted fans in July last year when she played snippets of new music outside her hotel in Paris, shortly after performing at the Olympics opening ceremony."
"Her eagerly-anticipated seventh album has been teased in recent months and fans are convinced this countdown confirms it," the Daily Mail added, before recalling that a single, "Disease," from the forthcoming album has already dropped. The song came out last October in time for Halloween.
Indeed, fans took to X (formerly Twitter) with ecstatic posts.
"LG7 will be the first full-length solo release since 2020's 'Chromatica,' which featured the hit singles 'Rain On Me' and 'Stupid Love,'" the Mail noted.
Not counted in that catalogue of studio albums is "Harlequin," a mix of covers and original material Gaga released last Sept. 27 as a companion piece to the movie "Joker: Folie à Deux" in which she co-stars with Joaquin Phoenix.
