Charli xcx might have just delivered the gay vote for Vice President Kamala Harris with one tweet.
When Biden suspended his campaign on Sunday, Charli tweeted "kamala IS brat," a riff on her recently released album "Brat" which also served as an Charli-styled endorsement of Harris to be the Democratic nominee.
As reported by NBC Washington, the tweet sparked a wave of support from the gays, and Harris' official campaign account promptly played along by changing its X account header to fit the Charli album theme.
The move was genius, and the social media response to the change applauded those responsible.
"Love the graphics. You guys got this 💪," wrote one commentator.
Another added, "And brat is kamala," added another commentator.
According to Charli, a "brat" is someone genuine, rebellious and self-possessed. The British singer and songwriter's tweet then spread to TikTok, where a wave of users began posting clips of Kamala over songs from Charli's album, reportedThe New York Times.
Charli's "Brat" made its debut at No. 3 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart, and Gen Z fans declared that this summer would be a "brat summer."
The "movement" got so big that even CNN covered and its hosts attempted to break down the meme and "Brat" for their audience.
