Watch: 'Modern Family' Cast Get More Modern in WhatsApp Ad

Gay couple Mitchell and Cam return to TV for Pride Month, along with Claire and Phil, for a half-minute ad touting WhatsApp.

"Ty Burrell, Julie Bowen, Eric Stonestreet and Jesse Tyler Ferguson have reprised their roles as Phil Dunphy, Claire Dunphy, Cam Tucker and Mitchell Pritchett from the hit ABC sitcom for a new WhatsApp commercial," People Magazine reported.

"According to a press release, the foursome returned to the Dunphy house in an effort to 'address America's blue and green bubble' messaging divide and provided an update on what the beloved family has been up to since the series' finale in 2020," the writeup added.

The funny spot features Mitchell's tagline – "Shame!" – as he catches on that the thread the others are looking at excludes him.

Explaining the snub, the others cite Mitchell's "new phone," which, they say, provides "blurry photos" and "weird likes."

A helpful housepainter puts in his two cents from an open window. Wielding a brush, he advises, "You know, if your group has different phones, just use WhatsApp. It's seamless and private."

The ad centers the gay couple in its closing moments, showing Mitchell and Cam in bed that night, admiring a group photo that's been shared on the app.

"I still can't believe you cut me out," Mitchell grouses.

Cam's sweet reply: "We may have cut you out from here" – meaning the earlier phone texts – "but never here," laying a hand over his heart.

Awww! Love wins again.
