Boston Comedy Chicks Take the Spotlight at Laugh Boston

On Sunday, October 18 at 8 p.m., Boston Comedy Chicks, Boston's only monthly, all-female comedy night, returns to the Laugh Boston stage. This all-female comedy showcase highlights women's voices. This showcase will feature a combination of local rising stars and nationally recognized headliners whose unique perspectives on everyday life and hilarious stories delight audiences.

The October 18 showcase features the following distinguished comics:

� Selena Coppock is a stand-up comic, writer, storyteller and Boston native now based in New York City. She recently published her debut book, "The New Rules for Blondes," a collection of essays celebrating and subverting the blonde stereotype, with It Books (HarperCollins) in May 2013.

� Laura Severse is a stand-up comic, storyteller, and proud Dorchester native. She performs all over the Boston area at venues like The Comedy Studio, ImprovBoston, Johnny D's and The Riot Theater.

� Emma Willmann is a stand-up comic, host, and actress. She quickly climbed the ranks of Boston's comedy scene and moved to New York City, where she headlined her own sold out show in the New York City Comedy Festival and was named one of the 10 Funniest Women in NYC by Time Out New York. She was one of this year's New Faces at Montreal's Just For Laughs festival.

� Kenice Mobley is a stand-up comic and filmmaker based in Boston. She produced the acclaimed web series Allston Xmas, which was covered in the Boston Herald, Boston Magazine and DigBoston. She has performed in the Boston Comedy Festival, the Women in Comedy Festival and The Chicago
Women's Funny Festival.

� Christa Weiss is a stand-up comic, artist, writer, and producer based in Boston. She recently opened for Maria Bamford at the Wilbur Theatre. She produces "Broad Appeal," a female-focused stand-up showcase at the Armory in Somerville. She also edits UnsceneComedy.com, a humor website and resource for comedians.

� Jacqueline Novak is a comedian and writer based in New York. In 2014, she released an album called "Quality Notions" to rave reviews. In March 2016, Crown is publishing her debut book.

This showcase is part of the Chicks' annual programming, which includes monthly shows at Laugh Boston and Doyle's Caf� in Jamaica Plain from September to April. Boston Comedy Chicks highlights some of the country's top female comics while developing local up-and-coming talent.
