The Bridge - The Complete Second Season

Season Two of "The Bridge" opens with style, camp and carnage, as Lyle Lovett tucks his pants into his boots and wades through a puddle of blood. The reason for a condominium painted with gore is not explained, but we begin right away to get small revelations as to how this may have come about.

Marco Ruiz (Demian Bichir) is now working for the corrupt Ju�rez police department and trying to stay alive as some on his own force are clearly out to get him. All the while, Sonya Cross (Diane Kruger) continues to deals with the murder of her sister in bizarre ways: Stalking her sibling's murderer, Jim Dobbs, and eventually seducing his brother Jack (Nathan Phillips). Eventually, the murder of a cartel member in El Paso will bring them back together.

Lieutenant Hank Wade (Ted Levine) tries to protect Eva (Stephanie Sigman) by sending her to Reverend Bob's ranch, but this is a place where her obsessed admirer, Steven Linder (Thomas M. Wright), will also end up. And Daniel Frye (Matthew Lillard) and Adriana Mendez (Emily Rios) provide a little comic relief as they continue to search for her sister.

All the while we follow the unusual and horrifying behavior of Eleanor Nacht (the utterly terrifying Franka Potente), a shunned Mennonite who now works as a "fixer" for the cartel, while El Paso leaves a trail of bodies behind her.

There's a reason this darkly comic and excessively violent crime series has been compared to "Breaking Bad," everyone is flawed and nothing is certain. But the many divergent storylines fail to tie us to any particular antihero. Though in pieces it's thrilling, it's not surprising that "The Bridge" wasn't renewed for a third season.

This 4-disc set contains all 13 episodes of the second and final season and includes a look behind-the-scenes "Building the Bridge," a "Blurring the Border Line" featurette and deleted scenes.
