Guardians of the Galaxy

If you were to create the perfect space adventure, super hero movie -- one that isn't marketing to little kids and one targeted to a modern audience -- there would be no Luke Skywalker.

Han Solo would be the hero. The droids and wookies would resemble all the misunderstood geeks of Comic-Con. And the super villain would be seduced into incredible evil by an object of unspeakable power (because we don't want to stray too far from "Lord of the Rings"), but more importantly he'd be a sadist and he'd still be kind of hot.

In "Guardians of the Galaxy," Chris Pratt (who has come into his own as a leading man, proving to be so much more than one of the screen's most affable and funny character actors) plays Peter Quill, a common thug who knows he's kind of a dick but fancies himself as legendary criminal named Starlord. Whatever he is, he upsets more than a few powerful aliens by stealing a coveted orb.

He also sets himself into the sites of a group of ruthless bounty hunters: Rocket (Bradley Cooper) a genetically modified raccoon, Groot (Vin Diesel) a humanoid with a the properties of a plant and a limited vocabulary, Gamora (Zoe Saldana) a green skin assassin, and the vengeance-obsessed Drax the Destroyer.

But when Quill figures out the true power of the orb and it falls into the hands of the truly dangerous Ronan (Lee Pace), he decides to take responsibility for the whole galaxy. Bringing the ragtags together, Quill proves that -- in a universe where everyone's in it for themselves -- a dick doesn't have to be a total a-hole.

In addition to never before seen deleted scenes this Blu-ray has three pretty cool making-of-featurettes. And even though gag reels can be pretty lame, Chris Pratt looks like he's as much fun to hang out with behind the camera as he is in front of it.
