Mary Lambert Launches 'Heart on My Sleeve' Tour
Winnie McCroy READ TIME: 2 MIN.
Mary Lambert hits the road with her fall headlining North American tour, which kicked off on October 10 in Toronto and continues through mid November. The Seattle-based singer and songwriter is touring in support of her upcoming debut album "Heart On My Sleeve," which will be released by Capitol Records on October 14. Lambert, who toured all summer with Matt Nathanson and Gavin DeGraw, is known for her transcendent live shows, which often feature group sing-alongs and emotional moments for both Lambert and the audience.
A fearless writer inspired by confessional folk singers and spoken-word poets, Lambert empowers both herself and her listeners in her songs, which showcase her ethereal, lilting voice and soul-baring lyricism. She is currently gearing up for the release of "Heart On My Sleeve," which is an honest depiction of where she is now.
"This year has been the best of my entire life, which is not to say it hasn't come with its fair share of hurdles, heartbreak, and harsh lessons," she said. "I can only write about the experiences I've had. I signed to a major label. I went through a break-up. I figured out how to be an independent person. I have been terrifyingly honest to the public about traumatic events in my life. I met the woman of my dreams. I have been on the road nonstop, away from those I love, but with the opportunity to sing about gay rights to hundreds of thousands of people. This album is inspired by the depth of all of that love, and the journey that it takes to get there."
The album's first single, "Secrets," was released in August, followed by a version featuring B.o.B, and has racked up 1.1 million streams, while its video has collected more than 2.5 million views on VEVO. "Secrets" is being spun on over 60 pop stations across the country and is closing in on the Top 15 at Adult Top 40.
Wind-up Records' recording artist Jillette Johnson will be direct support on the North American tour.
