EDGE READ TIME: 2 MIN.

On Thursday, October 23, the Women's Fund of Long Island (WFLI) will host its 20th Annual Women Achievers Breakfast at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury, New York, where Sarah Kate Ellis, along with three other incredible women, will be honored for her extraordinary achievements. She will be a recipient of the Woman Achiever Award.

"I am proud to live my life openly and honestly, not only to be a role model for my children, but to inspire women everywhere to never be afraid to live the life they love," Ellis said.

Ellis is the President and CEO of GLAAD, the nation's only Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Media Advocacy nonprofit. Ellis has actively sought to bring LGBT women back into the spotlight, appearing in prominent publications and ensuring that women are a primary focus of GLAAD's programmatic work. Taking the lead of a dynamic national media powerhouse in a role primarily held by men in the past has been a triumph for Ellis and the LGBT women for whom she advocates.

An award-winning media executive, Ellis has led national media brands to their biggest successes, most notably growing Real Simple into one of Time Inc.'s most respected and successful magazine. Her vision has transformed leading media outlets including Vogue, InStyle, New York and House & Garden. Most recently, Sarah Kate served as Senior VP of Global Marketing at Martini Media.

Ellis co-authored a memoir with her wife, Kristen Ellis-Henderson titled "Times Two, Two Women In Love and the Happy Family They Made." The pair was featured on the groundbreaking "Gay Marriage Already Won" cover of Time Magazine and were the subjects of The Huffington Post's three-part documentary web series "Here Come the Brides." Sarah Kate was the co-chair of OUT at Time Inc., and is a member of Advertising Women of New York, Cosmetic executive Women and the Magazine Publishers of America.

Tickets for the event are $95 each, $100 after October 9. All proceeds will go towards investing in the power of women and dreams of girls on Long Island. Sponsors will receive priority seating at the event, advertising in their online journal, and recognition by WFLI. There are numerous sponsorship levels that can be viewed at www.womensfundli.org.
