Celebrities React to SCOTUS' Rulings on DOMA/Prop 8 on Twitter

Not long after the Supreme Court made its landmark ruling (striking down the Defense of Marriage Act and punting with their decision that Prop 8 had no standing) did a slew of LGBT-friendly celebrities express their joy for equality for same-sex couple across the country via Twitter.

"We stand tall today #DomaStruckDown So many fought for so long. Be proud, the prejudice are now the minority," tweeted Lady Gaga, who has been one of the most vocal celebrities on gay rights.

"DOMA-it-just-lost-O Mr. Roboto! So, so happy for Edie, et al," wrote Neil Patrick Harris, who is engaged to his longtime partner David Burtka. "And Prop 8 was dismissed?!? Huzzah! Christmas comes six months early this year! (Less one day...)"

"It's a supremely wonderful day for equality. Prop 8 is over, and so is DOMA. Congratulations everyone. And I mean everyone," tweeted Ellen DeGeneres.

"Today marks a watershed moment in history and a tremendous victory for the principle of equality," George Takei wrote on Facebook. "The 5-4 decision by our Supreme Court striking down DOMA affirms the universality of love--the desire of all people not only to find, but to value and affirm, a lifelong commitment to another person."

"I have lived nearly four score years, and have borne witness to both the heartbreak and promise of true justice and equality in America," he continued. "Today my heart soars, and my faith in the promise of our great nation is renewed. Now, if there's anything we gays know how to do well, it is to celebrate! Let the joy of this day ring out with PRIDE."

"Any straight person complaining about the Supreme Court striking down DOMA should be forced to hire a heterosexual wedding planner," Joan Rivers tweeted.

"I look forward to exercising my American civil liberties... and getting fully, completely and legally married this year to my true love of over three years, Linda Wallem," Melissa Etheridge said, announcing her engagement.

"Historic day. Well done #SCOTUS," Leonardo DiCaprio wrote.

Modern Family star Jesse Tyler Ferguson took to Twitter as well and wrote, "Victory for marriage in California as #Prop8 is struck down. Small but substantial steps toward #MarriageEquality for all!" He later added, "Remember the old days when #DOMA was around and gay people couldn't get married in California? Crazy right!?"

Singer Adam Lambert tweeted, "Down w DOMA! Something to be very proud of this upcoming July 4th. We are making beautiful progress for Equality! #proud"

"Surprise benefit of gay marriage to me?? Thousands of weddings where they play 'Wind Beneath My Wings'!" Bette Midler tweeted.

"Don't wanna traffic in stereotypes but let's be real: I'm gonna love a gay wedding," Girls star and creator Lena Dunham said.

"You're damn right DOMA is unconstitutional!!#equalitymatters" This text will be the linkKristen Bell wrote. She also tweeted, ""@daxshepard1 will you marry me? Xo #marriageequality #loveislove." Actor Dax Shepard is Bell's fiance and the couple previously said they'd wait to tie the knot until it was legal for same-sex couples.
