ISLIP, N.Y. - Authorities say three people are injured after a water taxi collided with a private boat off Long Island.

Coast Guard spokeswoman Jetta Disco says the accident occurred in the vicinity of Fire Island about 2:30 a.m. Sunday. She says the three were taken to an Islip hospital with injuries that weren't life threatening.

The four people on the water taxi and the two others on the pleasure craft were not hurt.

Jetta says the two boats were escorted to shore by Suffolk County authorities, but she had no details on how the collision occurred or damage to the water craft.

The Coast Guard is investigating the accident.
