Mx Justin Vivian Bond to Oberon this Thursday

You may know Justin Bond from his long-running stint as one-half of the duo Kiki and Herb, the faux and very funny nightclub act that toured the world from such prestigious venues as the Sidney Opera House to New York's Carnegie Hall (as well as Broadway's Helen Hayes Theatre where their 2006 run garnered them a Tony nomination).

This week he comes to Cambridge's Oberon where he will be singing from the new album "Dendrophile" on Thursday, May 26. Doors open at 7:30pm, performance begins at 8:00pm.

Recently described as "A bar of gold in the new depression" by Hilton Als in the New Yorker, Bond is an Obie, Bessie and Ethyl Eichelberger Award winner and was named one of the top 40 favorite New Yorkers by "Time Out New York." He was also listed by "Time Out London" as one of England's 50 Funniest People.

Justin has won rave reviews for writing directing and starring in "Christmas Spells" (one of the top 5 theatrical experiences of 2009 -The New Yorker), "Re:Galli Blonde (A Sissy Fix)" at The Kitchen in New York City, the GLAAD nominated show "Lustre" which premiered at PS122 in the East Village and toured the UK culminating in a critically acclaimed run at London's Soho Theatre.

Bond recently released a new album, "Dendrophile," that encapsulates the various- and constantly evolving-dimensions of Bond's career post-Kiki and Herb: music. As one-half of the Performance duo Kiki and Herb, Justin Vivian toured the world headlining at Carnegie Hall, The Sydney Opera House, London's Queen Elizabeth Hall and starred in the Tony nominated "Kiki and Herb Alive on Broadway" (The Helen Hayes Theatre) and "Off-Broadway Coup de Theatre" (The Cherry Lane Theatre). V regularly emcees the performance series Weimar New York which has played in such varied locations as the SFMOMA, The Speigeltent, and Joe's Pub at the Public Theater in New York. Justin's film credits include a starring role in John Cameron Mitchell's feature "Shortbus," Charles Hermann-Wurmfeld's "Fancy's Persuasion" as well as "Imaginary Heroes" and television appearances include "Ugly Betty" and "Late Night With Conan O'Brian."

OBERON, the American Repertory Theater's destination for theater and nightlife on the fringe of Harvard Square, is bringing exciting and original programming to the space in 2011. The home of the A.R.T.'s hit productions of "The Donkey Show," "Cabaret" and "Prometheus Bound," OBERON also presents the work of local and visiting talent.
