Rapper Azealia Banks Apologizes for Her PrEP Rant

Wednesday November 27, 2019

Controversial rapper Azealia Banks took to Instagram this week to offer an apology to those who use PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis) after launching into a rant last month.

The "212" musician posted a photo of text where she said, "I'm really really sorry."

"A few weeks ago I went on a rant about Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis meds and I am just doubling back to say....I'm sorry," Banks wrote, adding a frowning emoji. "It's not my place. It was extremely insensitive. Who cares if I meant well, that wasn't the way. I'm really really sorry."

Banks took issue with Frank Ocean for launching an event night at a New York City club called PrEP+. At the time, she lashed out against Ocean and PrEP, which many take to prevent contracting HIV.

"There's no reason you need to have a fucking pill so you can just fuck whoever you wanna fuck," Banks said at the time. "The boys are still getting HIV. The girls are getting fucking renal failure. They're getting liver fucking failure, they're getting anal warts, they're getting anal cancer, OK? That's a fucking death trap."

She went on to slam Frank Ocean, saying he's going to "promote that to y'all gays like that's something that y'all need? It's evil. And he's probably getting paid. Y'all stay off that fucking PrEP."
