Community - The Complete Third Season

"Community" is one of the smartest and most innovative shows on television. Not only does it manage to break new ground in sitcom structure it also manages to be referential to pop culture in fresh ways. The Complete Third Season includes some of the most amazing episodes of the series.

The third season has some pretty stand out episodes. "Basic Lupine Urology" was a hilarious spot-on take on a "Law & Order" episode. "Remedial Chaos Theory" take on six different dimensions when it explores how different things would transpire if someone goes to answer the door. "Regional Holiday Music" lampoons "Glee" with a musical episode and an obsession with "Regionals." Also, keep an eye out for "RuPaul's Drag Race" star "Shangela" in "Advanced Gay."

The DVD bonus features are so entertaining they add another whole level to the DVD set. The gag reels showcase how fun it is filming on the set as actors improvise, sing and basically make inappropriate jokes behind-the-scenes. There is commentary on every episode including a blend of cast members and writers on the show. There are also a few deleted scenes which are mostly extra much jokes that didn't make it to air. The bonus features really showcase how fun and intelligent the show is beyond just what you see on screen.

The featurette "A Glee-ful Community Christmas" shows all the steps involved in filming their musical episode. "This is War: Pillows vs. Blankets" Mockumentary Featurette explores the war documentary style episode and the steps involved in using that style of filmmaking.

"Community" is an insanely well written and acted show that rarely gets the credit it deserves. However, since it is available on DVD it can become the cult classic it is meant to be.
